Our story
Subsea cables are the backbone of global connectivity, carrying the vast majority of transcontinental data traffic. As demand for bandwidth continues to surge (driven by cloud services, content delivery, and enterprise connectivity) the number of new, high-capacity cables being developed has also risen. Recognizing this, Columbia Capital and Digital Realty envisioned a platform that would deliver integrated, resilient, and strategically located cable landing stations essential for the future of global connectivity.
This shared vision led to the creation of Vela Infrastructure, a joint venture dedicated to addressing the challenges facing the subsea cable industry. Vela’s cable landing stations provide the vital infrastructure needed to support new routes and enhance network resilience.
